• Film Quarterly´s fall-issue (60:1) has articles by James Naremore on "Stanley Kubrick and the Aesthetics of the Grotesque", Erik Dussere´s "Out of the Past, Into the Supermarket: Consuming Film Noir", and Daniel Herbert´s "Sky´s the Limit: Transnationality and Identity in Abre los Ojos and Vanilla Sky" (s. • The last two issues of the Journal of Popular Film & TV should be mentioned with articles on Gene Kelly´s Singin´ in the Rain, Mel Brooks´s The Producers, and on Fred Zinnemann´s The Search in the spring-issue 34:1, and - in 34:2 from last summer - Valerie Wee: "Resurrecting and Updating the Teen Slasher: The Case of Scream" (s.a. • Articles on Native Americans (by Joanna Hearne), memory on television (by Myra MacDonald) and on Spielberg´s Artifical Intelligence: A.I. (by Carolyn Jess-Cooke) are in Screen´s autumn-issue (47:3).
• Besides an article on Val Lewton (by Martha P.Nochimson), there is a "Supplement on Acting in the Cinema" in Cineaste´s fall-issue (31:4).
• It´s the last spring-issue (45:3), but in it Cinema Journal offers a few interesting articles: on "Doris Day and the Decline of Female Film Comedy in the 1950s and 1960s" (author: Dennis Bingham), on "Film Adaptation and Selznick International Pictures´ Rebecca" (author: Kyle Dawson Edwards), on "The Softcore Thriller in Its Contexts" (author: David Andrews), and on "Gender and Technology in Still Photography and Hollywood Cinematography" (author: Patrick Keating).
